Hi I just got my BTR5 and am loving it so far. But I have a question about using it USB dac mode. Should I leave charge mode on wehn using USB dac. Or should I turn it off. And about how long will the battery last in USB dac mode if the charge is turned off.

Both could be available.

I fail to find the battery life information about USB input currently. You could test the Bluetooth mode to check the battery life of your BTR5 is correct or not.

Best regards

Isn't it possible to make BTR5 not to use the battery when is connected by USB to the desktop computer?Something like a desktop DAC without battery.
Since I've heard that leaving a device charging from 99 to 100 to 99 and so on will shorten the life span of it... but btw I don't know if that's what happens with the BTR5. Besides, when it's charging the device gets a bit hot. So I'm worried about the battery dying so fast. I don't leave home that much, that's why I want to use it as a desktop DAC.

What's the "Wire mode" in the Fiio Control App for?

I don't think it is possible for the BTR5 for a power passthrough mode even laptops does not have that option, just leave it charging, to ease your mind on it Li-ion batteries in electronics charge up to 3.7v but Li-ion batteries has a max charged voltage of 4.2v so it is far from being 100% all the time but reads 100% when it reaches 3.7v

About the BTR5 heating up that is probably the Xmos chip because it takes a lot of power even if I set the DAC clock divider to 1/4 in just a few hours the BTR5 loses most of its charge.

On the wire mode, do you mean Wire function on the control app? if yes, that is about the inline control on your earphones if you have one and using on bluetooth, I haven't tested different kinds of inline controls other than a one button inline control, from what sennheiser offers on their earphones, there is a difference in control for android and Iphone.

1. No, the battery of the BTR5 will be charged and used still when connecting to the computer when charge option is on. With charge option off, the BTR5 will use only the battery's power.

2. When 'Wire mode' is on, you could use the in-line remote control in your CTIA headphone instead of the button in BTR5.

Best regards
