Connecting M7 to Windows 7 as a device via USB

I can't get my M7 to show up as a device in Windows 7.

I installed the Samsung USB MTP driver that ships with the M7, but when I connect it to my PC, an error message pops up saying "Hardware ID missing. Windows cannot identify the device plugged into the Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device."

When I go to "Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device" in the USB Controllers section of the Windows 7 Device Manager, the "General" tab of "Properties" reads:

"This device is working properly.There is a secondary device connected to this hardware that Windows cannot identify because it does not have a valid hardware identification number. For assistance, contact the hardware manufacturer."

Dear friend,

Please check whether you have sent the m7 in storage mode before connecting it to the computer? And please check via another usb cables.

If the issue still remains, please send email to support@fiio.com with some screenshoot attached. I fail to understand clearly according the description. Thanks in advanced！

Yes, the M7 is in storage mode and I have tried another cable.

I have already written to Support, but I will send screenshots of the error messages as you suggested.

Please try to uninstall the MTP and install again for check?

Can you find the MTP disk in my computer after connecting the M7 to the computer?

Did anyone have the same issue and manage to resolve it?
Support replied with a few generic suggestions like trying the latest driver or another USB cable.
I was also very unhelpfully informed that "MTP driver should be no problem at all as tens of thousand of customers successfully used it" and told to try another PC!

I fixed it in the end. I went to the Windows Device Manager and chose another MTP driver for the M7 - there were several installed on the system, so I just tried a few.
