Are you using the sony Bluetooth headphone? If yes, please try to check the setting for the Sony headphone via its app and try again? A user told me that his problem could be solved after adjusting some setting in the app for the Sony Bluetooth headphone. You could have a try.

HI FIIO team,

the point is that "disable absolute volume" in developer options of the M9 does not work and has no effect at all. we are a few users to tell you this fact and you don't seem to realize it.
this solution has great effect on phones and other devices to increase volume but not in the M9 !!
this is the thing you have to solve !
I tried all your solutions but it did not work included to pair again my headphones after changing absolute volume.
the headphones are not the cause of the problem because they wok great at full volume on phones
so , PLEASE, manage to find a way to unlock this bluetooth volume limitation on the M9 !!!

I'm pretty disappointed I cannot use the M9 at his full capacity and bought it especially for his bluetooth capabilities....

Bookmarking this because I'm getting the exact same issue with my M7 & Airpods 2. Disabling absolute volume didn't do anything, and using third-party volume boosters like GOODEV distorted and clipped the audio without making it sound any louder. Earphones sound loud and clear when paired to my phone.

We have reported your feedback to the engineer.

They test and check the volume is not that small comparing with connecting the Sony headphone to the iPhone. Did you try to set the volume of the Sony headphone itself to higher value?

Having same issue with transmitting from FiiO M6 to a Lavaudio bluetooth receiver that is connected via RCA audio cables to an integrated amp and speakers. I had to switch to intermediate LDAC because high quality skipped during initial pairing from only 3 feet away. I then had to turn the amp volume up to about 70% and the M6 volume up to about 80% to get a medium volume. Understand that this amp at 70% volume on a line level connection from any normal audio source (TV, DVD, CD) would be shaking the walls! Others in this thread say disabling absolute volume doesn't correct the problem appreciably. Besides, that's not a real solution anyway because there are a lot of reasons to be able to control the volume using the player itself, especially if like me, you are sending to an older amp that doesn't have a remote control. I hope you can fix this issue. Not that I want to play wall shaking music; I just think the music would sound better if the amplifier was not being so over worked.
