Are you guys at Fiio stupid or just plain square? Who the hell still runs windows 7. We, as your customers, are SPECIFICALLY interested in a FIX for WINDOWS 10, from YOU. Not Windows. This is NOT a windows fault. This is a your driver/firmware fault. FIX IT

I bought a USB2 to USB-C cable and after that I’ve not had any problems.
I guess there’s some timing issues in the hardware or firmware in the K3 when running it in a usb 3 port with a usb3 cable.

The cable doesn't really matter as much as the port.

Yeah okay, cool. It's 2020 though and Windows 10 is the norm. Please get in contact with your driver supplier and get this fixed. Also a quick googling reveals that there is a newer version of the base driver already, so maybe try updating and shipping that first?

Just bought my Fiio K3 and guess what, looks to be having this issue.  I havent narrowed it down but gone on to play some audio a couple of times and no audio dispite the power light being on.

Checking Sound in Windows 10 shows no FiiO device.  Turning off then on and it shows up again.  USB 2.0 mode and in a USB 2.0 port.  I am going to try removing the driver and using in 1.0 mode.

It's really pathetic, also saying "Could not reproduce on Windows 7" which is YEARS old is insane.

I have EXACTLY the same issue on my WIN 10. When computer goes to sleep, after wake up I have to turn off the K3 and turn back on so my windows can recognize the device again. How there is no fix! I think I will open up a dispute with Amazon.

Same issue with a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) with macOS 10.15.7. K3 won't show up after a sleep and the cable needs to be reconnected that the K3 shows up and is usable in USB 2 mode.

Also tried various USB hubs in between to see if that changes anything but without success.

Same issue here on Windows 10... Sometimes on PC startup it works perfectly but every once in a while (4-10 times a week) i need to disconnect the Fiio K3 USB device and reconnect for it to start working..

Can someone from FiiO look into this or at least give us an ETA on new Firmware/Drivers for this device..

To anyone still searching for a solution, this seemed to work for me... running Windows 10 64 bit

1. FiiO K3 running in 2.0 mode with latest drivers
2. Connected to back of computer in a USB 2.0 slot, not 3.0
3. Disabled selective suspend on USB ports (not sure if this factors in at all, but doesn't hurt to keep it off if you are running a desktop PC anyway)

Under these conditions my PC launches from shutdown/sleep with FiiO still active as the output and does not require a manual restart. Will update if anything changes.

Hopefully this helps more than the canned official support account replies.

Same issue with PC running Ubuntu 20.04 on a Linux 5.4 kernel.  This is not an OS issue, we are using the standard USB HID driver and seeing the same problem.  I have 3 USB sound-cards attached - my K3 on headphones, a Asus Echelon on my amp and an AT2020+ mic which has a headphone output.  

K3 consistently vanishes after suspend/resume. The other 2 devices work fine. K3 must be powered off/on to work again.

USB3.0 port is used, direct connection to motherboard with no hub.

Please fix your firmware.

OMG why does this issue exist today? Half the time K3, with the current FiiO_USB_DAC_Driver-V4.47.0 installed, correctly works with my dsf files (stream DSD data as PCM (DOP) and errors the other half.  I have current OS updates and such with no issues using UBS connected devices -- except the K3.

When is does work it works fabulous. But my god what a fight we have to get it to do so.

This is either a FiiO software driver problem with Windows 10 or the K3 needs a firmware update. There's no excuse for this. IT IS NOT OUR PROBLEM -- ITS FiiO's.

No. But I have.. I think... found the solution.

When the volume level of the Windows 10 PC is set less than 100 percent the K3 will not work with dsf files. When my MusicBee app volume is adjusted below 100 percent or the FiiO control panel volume is adjusted below 100 percent the K3 will cease to behave properly.

When the three of those volumes are set to 100 percent - FiiO K3 works each and every time. The volume is then adjusted by the K3; works like a charm. Hopefully this will help others who are ready to toss in the towl.

Found out how to fix this for me, hopefully this will help others out as well. I had another computer that used a much older version of windows 10 and it worked fine, fast forward to now and I'm having the exact same issues others here are frustrated about, everything is fully updated etc etc.

THE FIX:

I found for me was if i were to plug my fiio k3 into the front case panels this issue stops happening, I recently got a headphone stand that has 2 extra usb slots, i plugged that into my motherboard and plugged my k3 into the external usb port and now it works flawlessly, it's very likely an issue with certain motherboards, the usb connection from the headphone stand is 3.0 my motherboard only has usb 3.2 and 2.0 and none of them work, front ports are 3.0 as well. So it could likely be a motherboard thing or the k3 is very picky with what usb type you plug it into.

Hopefully this helps relieve headache from others having the same issue, buy a usb 3.0 hub (SPECIFICALLY 3.0) and see how it goes from there, hope this helps!

Does anyone find the solution for mac computers?
I have a mac mini M1 and I had tested on the original cable and usbc -> usbc cable.
Whenever mac goes to sleep mode, after wake up I have no K3 audio device available.
Turning off and on the device does not help.

I must disconnect, and connect again.
