How to use the X3II, X5II, X5 or X3 as a USB DAC on a Mackintosh Apple computer(or all 4 at the same time). Just ensure you have enough USB ports on your MAC.

1. First of all please note no drivers are required to connect your DAC to any Apple Computer.

2. On your X player, go to System Settings->USB mode and change the mode to DAC.  Then connect it with a USB port on the Mac computer using our provided USB cable . The X player is compatible with both USB 2 and USB 3 ports.)
3. On Your Mac  Open Preferences and select Sound as shown in the image below:

4. Then see your FAC listed and highlight the same.

5. Open Spotlight and search for Audio Midi Setup as shown in the image below:

6. Opem Audio Midi Setup as shown in the image:

7. Select Fiio Device and then follow instructions listed in the image below:

You can follow similar steps for each DAC that you want to use in DAC mode with the MAC

8. You Can open applications on your Mac like VOX (Free) on app store and Audiravna + to play your music in HD quality through the DAC. You can also use itunes, however, your music has to be converted first to ALAC (Apple lossless Audio Codec) format first as itunes doesnot allow you to play Flac files.

Use a FREE application like XLD to convert your music files in the format you desire. THis app can convert all your Flac, DSD, wav, etc files to ALAC format to play through iTunes.

I request the forum admin to place this post in the  Product FAQ SEction.

For any more help do post your questions and we would be glad to answer them.

You do not need to change the kHz within the Midi-Setup, since OS X changes it automatically all the time. All you have to do is just simply choose your FiiO device within the Sound settings.

I had this problem some while ago with a ASUS Xonar Essence One.
The only real Kenny.

Agree but  my point is extra step to make sure all is selected well. Cheers
